I wanna stand up, I wanna let go
You know, you know - no you don't, you don't
I wanna shine on in the hearts of men
I want a meaning from the back of my broken hand

Another head aches, another heart breaks
I am so much older than I can take
And my affection, well it comes and goes
I need direction to perfection.

I don't think I can successfully convey all my RAGE and desire to hurt people with a mere post (don't tell me I'm not PC. I know and I'm not really caring right now, okay? Okay), so I'm letting this link speak by its-disgusting-self.

So, I've heard there's a drug for pregnant women that prevents them to have - you know - lesbian daughters. Because that's obviously the worst thing ever that could happen to any expecting mother, right. We're all out there, holding our bellies and hoping - let me tell you fair and straight because that's what I do every night, too - not for a healthy baby! Who cares! Our main worry is that our babies don't turn up gay, of course!

I am -- I don't know. I just want to kick that woman in the face. I'm going to hold my belly for a while now.

(And ignoring for a moment the most disgusting part, I don't even want to address the fact that pregnant women should stay clear of any drug, unless we're talking about serious illness that could damage them/the babies. I even said no to Plasil and kept my morning sickness because it could put my baby at risk. I MEAN. USE YOUR FUCKING BRAIN, PEOPLE.)

Clay and his partner of 20 years, Harold, lived in California. Clay and Harold made diligent efforts to protect their legal rights, and had their legal paperwork in place--wills, powers of attorney, and medical directives, all naming each other. Harold was 88 years old and in frail medical condition, but still living at home with Clay, 77, who was in good health.

One evening, Harold fell down the front steps of their home and was taken to the hospital. Based on their medical directives alone, Clay should have been consulted in Harold's care from the first moment. Tragically, county and health care workers instead refused to allow Clay to see Harold in the hospital. The county then ultimately went one step further by isolating the couple from each other, placing the men in separate nursing homes.

Ignoring Clay's significant role in Harold's life, the county continued to treat Harold like he had no family and went to court seeking the power to make financial decisions on his behalf. Outrageously, the county represented to the judge that Clay was merely Harold's "roommate." The court denied their efforts, but did grant the county limited access to one of Harold's bank accounts to pay for his care.

What happened next is even more chilling.

Without authority, without determining the value of Clay and Harold's possessions accumulated over the course of their 20 years together or making any effort to determine which items belonged to whom, the county took everything Harold and Clay owned and auctioned off all of their belongings. Adding further insult to grave injury, the county removed Clay from his home and confined him to a nursing home against his will. The county workers then terminated Clay and Harold's lease and surrendered the home they had shared for many years to the landlord.

Three months after he was hospitalized, Harold died in the nursing home. Because of the county's actions, Clay missed the final months he should have had with his partner of 20 years. Compounding this tragedy, Clay has literally nothing left of the home he had shared with Harold or the life he was living up until the day that Harold fell, because he has been unable to recover any of his property. The only memento Clay has is a photo album that Harold painstakingly put together for Clay during the last three months of his life.

With the help of a dedicated and persistent court-appointed attorney, Anne Dennis of Santa Rosa, Clay was finally released from the nursing home. Ms. Dennis, along with Stephen O'Neill and Margaret Flynn of Tarkington, O'Neill, Barrack & Chong, now represent Clay in a lawsuit against the county, the auction company, and the nursing home, with technical assistance from NCLR. A trial date has been set for July 16, 2010 in the Superior Court for the County of Sonoma.

Read more about NCLR's Elder Law Project.

Are you disturbed by the story of how Clay Greene was treated by the County? Please post this, pass it on, do whatever you can to help raise the visibility of what happened to Clay.

Also, please write a letter to the local paper, the Press Democrat (owned by The New York Times) asking them to do some investigative reporting on the Greene v. County of Sonoma case. So far they have ignored the story.

Send a letter to the editor at letters@pressdemocrat.com. Include the story and a link to this post.

EDIT: Someone posted this petition to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat asking them to publish the story.

(basically, I'm a sheep. Baaah)

The Fandom Appreciation Challenge is about giving feedback, reccing and interacting with other fen. It's also about harnessing the power of the ticky-box for good.

The Fandom Appreciation Challenge runs for a week, and consists of seven individual daily challenges AKA Day Challenges. Each Day Challenge runs for 24 hours. Do not check the ticky-box until you've completed the Day Challenge. You don't have to complete every Day Challenge to play.

Anyone can play, any fandom. All aboard! \o/

Fandom Appreciation Challenge 2010 - Day 1: Rec 3 challenge stories or fanworks in your journal. - Challenge stories/fanworks include flashfics from a flashfic challenge, yuletide and secret santa stories, Valentine's exchanges, kink memes, porn battles, and any other organised challenge or exchange in any fandom.

Um, so. I'm a lolobvious sheep? The thing is, there are so many cool fics around with a glaring (to me) flaw: my OTP plays a secondary role. Or it's just mentioned here and there, en passant, while the focus of the fic is pairing XYZ. This is damn frustrating if you're as selective as I am. Also, it makes the reccing part twice as hard. Aw.

- No Particular Place to Go by flyingtapes. Bob/Ray, R, The Time Traveler's Wife AU.

This is THE fic, the one I always go back to when I need a cuddle in written words. I love the dynamic, the characterization, the flow and the pace, I love it all. My only complaint? I would have loved a +20k of this. I'm not talking about the verse itself, I really mean of this fic.

- The Light Is Perfect by valmontheights. Bob/Ray, PG-13.

I have a soft spot for domestic fics, yeah. I'm a fan of established relationships, of quiet and manly love and little to none angst, please (affectionate bickering? Go right ahead. Ten thousand shades of angst? Please don't). Porn is alright, but not mandatory: what I really want is to read bazillions of fics just like this one.

- Underneath Your Skin, by anon (if you're reading this, just know that I love you). Bob/Ray, NC-17.

What I was saying above about established relationships, but revisited under a porn light. They're at it, the sex is hot, but! It isn't just about sex! Isn't that great? There's so much more behind and we gets glimpses of it and. Aw. ♥

(Write many +20k of domestic!Bob/Ray, people. You won't regret it)(and I might blow you out of sheer happiness anyway)

# I love you all. ♥

# I received the best OTP fic ever (and a half! My friends, let me show you) from framianne ♥, I delivered my Gods!fic (just in time, since the deadline was today! It needs to be betaed, though, and I don't really have time now anyway = it'll be online in the next days), and I opened my photo community, polysemy_mind. It's for me, to store pretty pictures and use them as prompts, but feel free to watch it if you're so inclined.

*is still behind*
*can't wait for January to be OVER*
*forgive me for it, I'm not ignoring anyone, I'm just OVERWHELMED*

mahoni made me do it! (No, that's not true. It's all my fault)

Pick one of the following fic tropes and give me a pairing and I will write a short ficlet about it. If you want to offer a prompt, too, I'll love you forever. AU/canon, anything goes. This is because I'll be bored out of my mind tomorrow and I found out I prefer to work on my BBB when I'm home. Kill me with a shovel. Oh, and I swapped one of the tropes because lolno.

Character pool: MCR, any combination of Bob/random bandmate. Bob/Brian is alright, too, and so are threeways with wives. My limitations are 1) gen 2) hard kink 3) binary het (but as I said, a Bob/bandmate/bandmate's wife is perfectly alright). That's a pretty broad range, right?

Girls Getting Harder (genderswap) - Bob/Frank/Brian, crowgirl13
2. bodyswap - Bob/Mikey, turps33
3. drunk!fic
4. huddling together for warmth
5. secretly a virgin - Bob/anybody, mahoni
6. amnesia - Bob/Gerard, henazua
7. pretending to be married - Bob/Ray, earlofcardigans
8. forced to share a bed - Bob/Ray/Gerard, turlough
9. aliens made them do it
10. wingfic - Bob/Frank, lupilups
11. aphrodisiacs - Bob/Gerard/Brian, dancinbutterfly
12. curtain fic - Bob/Gerard, fleurdeliser
13. hurt/comfort - Bob/Brian, soloproject
14. telepathy/soulbonding - Bob/Mikey, runauberginerun
15. werewolves mate for life - Bob/Frank/Alicia, tempore

If any of you is interested, of course. :)

ETA: Haha, you're all fond of threesomes, aren't you? *hugs everyone*

Since my bids are going up (ty everyone ♥ flist members and not), I thought to raise my minimum wordcount of 2k and to adjust it accordingly. Ie, the amount I raised so far = ff of at least 3k, if the amount doubles up = ff of at least 5k and so on. +2k every time it doubles up. Keep in mind that my monthly standard is 16/20k, so there's room for more - and I want to be fair to my bidders. :)

I'd comment on my thread to update my offer, too, but since they're going to have issues about it in the next 45 seconds or so (and thank god Lj raised the comment limit to a single entry up to 10,000), I'm just going to leave this up here.

(♥. I'm so proud of fandom these days *group hug* we are making a difference here)

(I'm still behind with comments/etc and for this I apologize; I will catch up with everything during the weekend, cross my heart etc)

I really have no money to spare right now, but there's something I can do to help the Haiti people all the same, so I dropped my name in the ff auction, too.

I am offering: A fic of at least 1,000 words.

Fandoms (if appropriate): MCR.

Additional Info (optional): You can ask me whatever you want (except hard kink or gen) featuring Bob/any MCR guy and/or former manager. A threeway thing with any of the wives is okay, too. If you have any particular request you want to see fulfilled, get in touch with me and we'll work it out. I'm quite flexible when it comes of BC. Rating doesn't matter, if you want something NC-17, by all means ask for it.

Starting Bid: $1

Fair warning: if they start wanking this year, too, then I'm going to cut not just one, but multiple bitches at once. Any kind of wank, really.

I mean, bandombigbang is the yearly event I care about the most/I'm mostly excited about, it should be centered around 'writing fics - posting fics - reading fics - receiving/giving feedbacks' and people should organize their wankfests elsewhere. DON'T RUIN THE BBB AGAIN. DON'T. RARGH.

That said, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHH, IT'S (ALMOST) THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN! *GRABBY HANDS* GIMME THE SIGN-UP POST, GIMME. I NEED IT LIKE BURNING. Seriously, the Testing, Testing post is the only remarkable thing that happened so far this year. :D

It's January 04th and I already added two Bob/Ray fics to my Delicious! If this is the blueprint for 2010, hell yeah, bring it on! :D

- Untitled, by framianne (NC-17). It's in Italian and if you speak it and haven't read it yet, I urge you to. Gently.
- Underneath Your Skin, by anon (NC-17). Porn of the good kind. Trust me.

And there's also a new ficlet exchange community called no_tags. (description stolen with love from mahoni)

It is low-key, stress-free, and other things that rhyme with e! Open to pairings and prompts from all corners of bandom! It will be over in less than two weeks! You know you want to do it! (And pimp it! And tell your friends to do it!)

Visit the community to read the rules and sign up!

I had a blinding moment of panic at the no overlapping rule, yeah, but in the end I came up with a no-BC pairing I sometime read, too. Please come play with us! Bring your prompts! (And bring me a Bob/Ray one, please, because I want to be able to write something I feel comfortable with ♥)

Yesterday evening I learned about the new act of failboat made in Amazon, which consists in censoring GLBT books by stripping them of their sales ranking. Well done, guys. What's next? You could - I don't know, I'm throwing idea around here - promote the reestablishments of portions of cities in which members of a minority group live, or suggest a new dress code that comprehends colored badges to be worn all the time. How does that sound?

Amazon said that 'in consideration of our entire customer base, we exclude "adult" material from appearing in some searches and best seller lists. Since these lists are generated using sales ranks, adult materials must also be excluded from that feature.' I say, 'let's hit them where it hurts the most. PR. It's Google-bomb time.'
